Abstract

We propose dramaturgy as a strategy to teach critical thinking skills. This is an important goal for IS students but remains difficult because of the traditional emphasis on directive teaching. We describe a specific implementation of the strategy – in the form of a play with ten scenes – for teaching and learning business process management to a graduate audience. Initial feedback from students who used it over the course of a semester suggests that students find the experience enjoyable and that the solution holds promise for cultivating critical thinking skills.
