Abstract
As human-robot interaction (HRI) technologies progress, addressing their ethical implications becomes crucial, especially in low-resource areas. These contexts present unique challenges, such as limited technical expertise and resources for robot maintenance. Ethical evaluations ensure HRI systems are developed and deployed responsibly and transparently, respecting users' rights and well-being. This workshop paper shares insights from an ethical evaluation of HRI, highlighting key ethical concerns and implications. It discusses the challenges of such evaluations and offers best practices and recommendations for future work. Our findings stress the need for ongoing focus on ethical considerations in HRI's dynamic field, aiming to inform ethical guidelines and support future research and development for ethical and responsible HRI.
