How GE and Philips Deployed Digital Twins at Scale

Abstract

Digital twins (DTs) are dynamic, continuously updated virtual counterparts of physical assets that integrate data from both the physical and digital worlds. DTs enable organizations to improve decision-making, optimize operations, and anticipate future conditions, yet few organizations have successfully deployed them at scale. Drawing on case studies of GE and Philips, this article examines the challenges that firms encounter in implementing DTs, highlights the integration capabilities required to build and sustain DTs, and offers practical recommendations for organizations seeking to unlock their full potential.
