Abstract
Adapting to disruptive digital innovations poses significant challenges, especially for public-sector organizations. To help leaders make sense of this complexity and build capacity to operate within it, this article centers on the “Immersive Workspace 2040” narrative, which explores the future of work, designed through a structured methodology and in dialogue with a New Zealand government ministry. Deconstructing the narrative reveals three critical areas of work transformation: shifting from jobs to dynamic talent orchestration; resolving the human-AI governance paradox; and designing for AI value alignment, not efficiency.
