Abstract
Many of the first generation of private-blockchain-based business-to-business (B2B) supply chains have now shut down due to their inability to attract enough trading partners. We argue that the future of B2B commerce lies in public decentralized networks such as Ethereum. This new B2B era will require enterprises to have nine capabilities in the ecosystem, business & governance and technical domains. To prepare for B2B commerce over public decentralized networks, we recommend four actions for acquiring these capabilities.
