Abstract
Many industries are being disrupted by the sharing economy, with online platforms connecting and facilitating transactions between owners of underused assets and users who pay to use those assets for a limited duration. This sharing platform model threatens the way established firms do business, and they need to devise strategic responses to the threats. From an analysis of the responses to the sharing economy by established firms in two industries, we identify the strategies incumbent firms can consider when reacting to the threats.Click here for free presentation slides (pdf)
