Abstract

Intellectual property rights (IPR) protection is often costly, inefficient, and undermined by fragmented systems and low trust. This study investigates how blockchain can improve IPR management by creating a blockchain-enabled trust ecosystem. Drawing on Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM), the research adopts a systematic, iterative approach involving literature review, ecosystem design, expert interviews, and model refinement. The proposed ecosystem defines three key stakeholder roles—IP Creator, IP Administrator, and Digital Participant—and maps their interactions within a digital trust system. By leveraging consortium blockchain, tokenization, and transparent transactions, the ecosystem enhances trust, traceability, and efficiency. Initial expert evaluations support the model's feasibility and practical value in fostering secure, transparent, and collaborative IPR governance. Academically, this study contributes to blockchain ecosystem research by addressing the underexplored IPR context. Practically, it offers a strategic framework for enterprises seeking to improve IP asset management, collaboration, and value realization
