In today’s digital landscape, understanding user behavior and fostering engagement have become paramount for the success of information systems and technologies. The “User Behavior and Engagement” track explores the intricate and constantly evolving relationship between users and technology, examining how digital interfaces shape user actions, preferences, and experiences across various contexts. This track invites cutting-edge research that offers novel insights into the dynamics of user interaction with technology, the factors driving engagement, and the consequential outcomes at individual, organizational, and societal levels. We encourage submissions that investigate the multifaceted nature of user behavior, including cognitive, emotional, and social dimensions, and studies that propose innovative strategies for enhancing healthy user engagement and experience. We also welcome research that critically examines the potential negative side-effects of “user engagement” as the driving goal of technology design (e.g., dependence, over-reliance, skill erosion), and research that proposes novel paradigms in this area (e.g., appropriate reliance and calibrated trust).

Track Co-Chairs;
David Xu, City University at Hong Kong
Mari-Klara Stein, TalTech
Likoebe M. Maruping, Georgia State University
Aljona Zorina, NEOMA Business School
Dezhi (Denny) Yin, University of South Florida
