Abstract

IT projects are often characterized by complexity, time pressure, and distributed collaboration, conditions that place considerable demands on teams and challenge effective coordination. In this context, mindfulness may serve as a valuable resource, yet its role in IT project management remains underexplored. Prior research has largely focused on either individual or team outcomes, with limited attention to the multilevel nature of mindfulness and its potential effects on team agility, innovation, and communication - capabilities that are critical for project success. This research-in-progress study aims to investigate how team mindfulness influences these factors and how they contribute to overall project success. The moderating effects of task complexity and virtuality are also examined. Using a multilevel survey design, individual responses are aggregated to capture shared team dynamics. Findings aim to advance theory at the intersection of mindfulness and IT project management while offering practical insights for dynamic project environments

Staying Present Under Pressure: A Multilevel Study of Team Mindfulness in IT Projects
