Description
In this study, we investigate factors that influence viewers’ evaluation of photographs in mobile travel review platform. We argue that embedded cues in the photographs such as experiential cues and object signification facilitate viewers’ perception and interpretation differently. Our empirical analysis supports that while experiential cues such as affective and cognitive cues in general are negatively associated with memorability of the photos, inclusion of objects such as memorabilia enhances memorability. Further, interaction of the two constructs shows positive moderation effect of object signification on cognitive cues but not affective cues. We discuss implications for mobile content platform and travel industry.
