Abstract
This study evaluates Green Total Factor Productivity (GTFP) and the level of digital–real integration based on micro-panel data from vegetable growers in Jiayu County spanning 2014–2024. It applies the super-efficiency SBM-GML index model alongside the entropy method to measure GTFP and the extent of digital–real integration, respectively. The impact mechanisms are investigated using a two-way fixed effects model, mediation, and moderating effect models. Robustness and endogeneity tests support the results, which indicate that digital–real integration greatly improves GTFP. Results show that digital–real integration significantly enhances GTFP, a finding confirmed by robustness and endogeneity tests. Capital and labor misallocation partially mediate this relationship, with contribution rates of 23.8% and 2.7%, respectively. The impact of digital-real integration is strengthened by the positive moderation of this link by agricultural R&D investment and agricultural insurance depth. Additionally, the effect is heterogeneous across planting scales, with stronger impacts observed among large-scale producers compared to small holders. Overall, digital–real integration promotes green production innovation and supports the development of sustainable rural e-commerce. These findings provide empirical evidence for leveraging digital technologies to advance agricultural sustainability and enrich application scenarios for rural revitalization.
