Abstract
The purpose of this article is to investigate the ethical issues related to IoT deployment in the SME environment. More specifically, our aim is to address some of the most critical problem areas affecting the individual employees. Mason’s PAPA framework provides a good starting point for this study by distributing the general ethical issues of the information age into the following areas: privacy, accuracy, property and accessibility. This paper is structured around these four focus areas, which will be incorporated with the currently available literature and linked to potential ethical concerns of the commercial use of IoT solutions in SMEs. As a result, we aim to provide a preliminary framework for further research about SME-specific ethical challenges of IoT solution deployment.
