Digital Transformation: Concepts and Perspectives
Abstract
Digital transformation is a complex phenomenon that involves different technologies and organizational changes. The literature presents a diversity of concepts and perspectives within this domain. As expected, the works identified in the literature show that technology is only one part of a complex “puzzle” that must be clarified so that organizations can effectively understand and benefit from their digital transformation initiatives and evolve in an increasingly competitive world. Without a clear awareness of what digital transformation consists of and entails, the impact of projects undertaken by organizations may be limited and even negligible. This paper seeks to contribute to a clarification of the concept of digital transformation based on a literature review of the currently prevailing definitions and perspectives. It intends to improve the understanding of the various relevant aspects to be considered in the context of digital transformation projects.
