Abstract

This article is written as an attempt to help companies that have decided to introduce business intelligence (BI) methods or have already introduced them with unsatisfactory results. We will discuss the measures that should be implemented before a BI project is launched. The most crucial part of the process is diagnostics, which provides an assessment of the status of technology, operations and human resources’ knowledge and skills in the company. In order to carry out efficient and precise diagnostics, we designed a questionnaire that helps us to understand the operational and technological aspects related to a project as well as the qualifications of available human resources. In the article, we enumerate all factors that must be assessed in individual BI projects, and those that must be changed in the organization in order to successfully implement such projects.
