Description

The ebb and flow of excitement regarding new technologies creates both opportunities and risks for technology leaders. Rapid growth of technologies such as autonomous vehicles or cryptocurrency may be tempered by unrealistic expecations or unethical behaviors. However, despite the noise that often accompanies emerging technologies, kernals of the future may be observed. As author William Gibson noted “The future is already here, it’s just not very evenly distributed.” In this professional development symposia, our panel will discuss examples of how the emerging technologies such as AI, blockchain, AR and IoT are transforming organizations and value chains and how effective leaders embrace both monitoring technology advancements while maintaining daily operations. We will further explore mechanisms that technology leaders may use as guardrails to assist in navigating the complex technical, ethical and regulatory environments that are common to emerging technologies Panelists will further discuss key changes to leadership focused research that are developing in our rapidly evolving field.
