Although digital transformation is assumed to solve business problems such as cross-department communication, such a transformation method should first include the analysis of organizational dysfunctions as suggested from the socio-economic perspective. This paper relies on a case study of manufacturing in China where digital transformation was implemented to solve cross-department communication business problems. Beyond this specific business problem, this case study relies on the organizational dysfunctions as defined in socio-economic theory, highlighting research directions related to philosophy in information systems.
