DevOps puts new demands on the organization. Some employees concentrate on the positives: improved software releases, increased uptime, improved collaboration, higher quality code, fewer errors, etc. Other are overwhelmed by its negative aspects: harder work, greater responsibility, blurred lines of authority, complex performance metrics, potential redundancies/layoffs, etc. These employees are more likely to resist the implementation, and may even bring it to a halt. To prevent this from occurring, managers need to identify concerned employees and assuage their fears prior to beginning implementation. This research evaluates the predictive nature of uncertainty and personality on employee attitude. In a behavioral model, the five factors of personality are incorporated as a moderator of the relationship between uncertainty and employee attitude towards DevOps. The model is evaluated using survey data and structural equation modeling. The results indicate that uncertainty and personality can be used to identify potential problems.
