Description

Every day more than 3.6 million tons of industrial waste is generated worldwide, and a great part of it does not have a specific destination. Virtual Business Communities (VBC) can foster interorganizational collaboration with the objective of reducing this problem since they can connect firms that are geographycally near in order to exchange information, resources, and disposable items. Only few studies approached this subject and it is important to understand how constructs to mediate collective actions shuch as collaboration, value, trust, and governance contribute to the development a VBC. Industrial companies, intermediary agents, and public agencies from Southern Brazil formed our research field. The research method is based on Design Research and Design Thinking. Our main results and contributions are a better understanding of how do collective mediating factors such as collaboration, value, trust, and governance are perceived and defined by the field and suggestions to implement a VBC prototype.
