Abstract
Homeschooling in Australia is expanding rapidly, presenting both challenges and opportunities for the Information Systems (IS) discipline. As families increasingly rely on digital technologies for learning and support, questions of online safety, governance, and access become central. This study examines the e-safety challenges faced by homeschooling parents in digital environments, an under researched area. Literature review on homeschooling in Australia reveals fragmented governance, variable support networks. This study will use a mixed methods approach including a qualitative content analysis of homeschooling Facebook groups and a quantitative survey in the first phase and qualitative interviews in the second phase. Exploring e-safety in homeschooling highlights an opportunity to design support mechanisms and strengthen cybersecurity literacy for diverse educational contexts. By situating homeschooling within broader debates on digital risk, governance, and technology-enabled learning, the study contributes to understanding how Information System research can address societal challenges while shaping education in a digital age.
