Abstract

Agricultural organisations can benefit from Industry 4. (I4.) technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and the Internet of Things, yet adoption remains slow and complex. While past studies often focus on individual technologies or specific adoption drivers, there is limited understanding of how multiple, interdependent factors holistically influence adoption. This research-in-progress paper proposes a multi-level framework to synthesise technological, organisational, inter-organisational, industry, and national factors and examine how these factors influence I4. adoption in practice. In the next stage of our research, the framework will be applied and refined through a qualitative case study of the Australian citrus organisation. This paper makes a modest contribution to the Information Systems literature by providing an integrated framework and generating practical insights, highlighting how multiple factors influence I4. adoption in an agricultural organisation setting.
