Abstract
This research-in-progress study investigates the evolving role of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the digital age, with a focus on responsible leadership. The study explores the key responsibilities, specialized roles, competencies, and the relationship dynamics within the C-suite that define a responsible CIO. By employing the Delphi methodology, expert insights are synthesized to develop a comprehensive understanding of how the CIO's role has adapted post-pandemic, particularly in light of ethical and sustainability challenges. The findings aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice, providing a framework for responsible IS leadership.
