Abstract
As digitalization continues to reshape project work, it presents significant opportunities to overcome challenges related to temporality and multiplicity, which often hinder learning and innovation. This paper integrates perspectives from Information Systems and Project Management to explore how artificial intelligence (AI)—specifically Predictive AI and Generative AI—can enhance collective memory within project settings. Our findings demonstrate AI's transformative potential by 1) ensuring consistent data collection and storage through centralized systems, 2) enhancing and personalizing retrieval via predictive models, 3) generating innovative digital models and prototypes for shared project understanding, 4) supporting comprehensive scenario evaluations through mixed-data simulations, and 5) improving collaboration and communication across distributed teams. These insights underscore AI's dual role in optimizing processes and driving innovation, highlighting its strategic importance in the future of project management.
