Abstract

Digital food supply chain traceability (DFSCT) has the potential to address global sustainability concerns. However, limited studies investigate the use of technologies to support food supply chain traceability. Furthermore, empirical studies that show the impacts of DFSCT on sustainability are lacking. This research in progress aims to investigate the impact of DFSCT on the economic, environmental, and social benefits through a survey of 310 organisations in the Australian food industry. The findings show the importance of DFSCT in enhancing organisations’ sustainability performance, with empirical evidence demonstrating the positive impact of social and environmental performance on economic performance. This study offers modest contributions to research and practice related to the role of technology in supporting traceability and sustainable supply chain management.
