Abstract
Computers have been in use in the Republic of Zambia, in both the private and public sectors, for well over twenty years. Major users in the past have been the Government, the Mining Companies, the Urban District Councils, the Provident Fund, the national airline and railways, the Agriculture Marketing Board, and the University of Zambia, to mention a few. These have now been joined by the banks, the electricity supply corporation, the building society, the Post and Telecommunications Corporation, the defence forces and several private companies.
