What's New @ ITD

ITD ANNOUNCES the addition of two new manuscript types, Research Opinion and Book Review. Submitting authors can select these new manuscript types when submitting manuscripts to ITD. Click here to read the descriptions of all existing manuscript type available for submitting authors at ITD.

    Research Article

A research article entails the collection and analysis of qualitative, quantitative, or computational data, with the objective of contributing to academic knowledge in the domain of Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D). Research Articles must present original work and offer a substantial, independent contribution that justifies publication. These articles need to articulate a methodology and clearly indicate how the paper contributes to knowledge in the ICT4D domain.

    Practitioner Paper

A practitioner paper is designed to convey insights relevant to practitioners regarding phenomena related to ICT4D. This format places greater emphasis on the practical value and applicability of the findings. This format has a practitioners’ audience, a limited length of maximum 6000 words, and is characterised by the use of concrete examples to support arguments.

    Research Opinion

The purpose of a Research Opinion paper is to present an opinion within a debate in the ICT4D field, and/or introduce a new debate in the field. While a Research Opinion paper is not necessarily supported by empirical research, it still needs to present the epistemological basis on which the opinion relies. Research Opinions should be clearly positioned within the stream of ICT4D literature they aim to contribute to.

    Book Review

A book review is a short academic piece (maximum 3000 words) that offers a concise summary of a recently published book while also critically evaluating its arguments, contribution to the field, and research questions stemming from it. A book review situates the book within existing scholarship, discusses its strengths and limitations, and indicates its relevance for readers.
