The Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Information Systems Research Track at AMCIS is dedicated to advancing IS research in and about Latin America. Given that Latin America constitutes a significant portion of the Americas, with its population predominantly speaking Spanish or Portuguese, this track creates an important platform for the dissemination of rigorous and high-quality research in these languages. It also welcomes scholarly contributions in English that focus on the Latin American context.
This track is sponsored by the Latin American and Caribbean Association of Information Systems (LACAIS) chapter of the Association of Information Systems (AIS), reflecting the shared commitment to fostering academic excellence and cross-cultural dialogue within the global information systems community.
In line with AMCIS 2026’s theme, this track centers Latin American perspectives on the convergence of AI, automation, digital platforms, and data-centric innovation, examining how these forces can be governed and designed for equitable, sustainable impact across Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking contexts. We particularly welcome work on responsible deployment, trust and privacy, and the future of work and well-being, including studies of AR/VR, edge computing, FinTech, and autonomous systems in regional public and private sectors.
