Abstract
Mental health concerns become increasingly prevalent and place significant challenges in all aspects of life. Mindfulness has been identified as an effective approach to mitigating mental health risks. However, traditional mHealth training for mindfulness can be difficult to verify due to a lack of objective measures and instant feedback, which significantly restricts personalized training. Neurofeedback-assisted mHealth tools have shown promise in addressing these limitations. Leveraging a state-of-the-art cognitive training headband developed by a world-leading brain-computer interface (BCI) company, we found that neurofeedback-assisted mHealth training can enhance users’ mindfulness. In addition, daytime sessions show higher effectiveness. Our study indicates objective measures as a novel approach to evaluating the effectiveness of mHealth tools and highlights the roles of emerging technologies in enhancing mindfulness and promoting mental health. We intend to further develop our study by identifying specific designs in training programs and proposing a personalized mHealth training tool for optimizing mindfulness outcomes.
