Description
With consumers being responsible for a significant portion of carbon emissions, innovative digital technologies such as Carbon Reward (CR) apps can play a pivotal role in promoting low-carbon behaviors. Meanwhile, the potential of these apps has not been fully recognized due to their novelty. This study focuses on the role of gamification affordances and monetary rewards in Carbon reward apps to determine their effectiveness in promoting low-carbon behaviors. This study uses a vignette scenario approach to explore the potential of monetary incentives and gamification to encourage long-term low-carbon behaviors within CR apps. The research aims to enhance our understanding of the effects of small-scale digital interventions in the emerging CR apps on promoting low-carbon behaviors in time and space scale.
