Description
System use is a determinant of system success and effectiveness. The Internet has unique characteristics that must be acknowledged and considered when planning an Ecommerce strategy and hence requires new metrics to learn what works and what does not in the online environment. The objective of this study is to understand and examine the level and extent of use of websites particularly business-to-business (B2B) Ecommerce websites. The case study has been recognized as an appropriate approach to study complex phenomenon such as technology use. A distinguishing factor of this study is the use of primary organization and user organization dyads. The paper proposes two dimensions of use and a features-volume matrix to classify use of a B2B website. The sophistication of use refers to the quality of website use, defined by the features that the website has and their use. The scale of use refers to the quantity of use.
