Abstract
This article addresses the question of how to construct performance goals for data & AI products. We outline a design science research approach to develop an artifact that facilitates the definition of such performance goals. Furthermore, we describe a prototype of the artifact developed in a pilot study. The data & AI performance canvas is a visual tool depicting general performance categories that help to frame the collaborative construction of performance targets with different stakeholders. Based on the findings of this pilot study, we derive a substantiated problem definition as basis for a more detailed study in the future.
