Abstract
This paper examines the effects of government collaboration, firm collaboration and digitization on SMEs green innovation. Data is collected from 402 manufacturing firms in five industrial sectors in Mexico. We use a bipartite network model to examine the effects of government-firm collaboration on green innovation, and a unipartite network model to analyze the effects of firm-firm collaboration on green innovation. In addition, we test the effects of digitization on green innovation and the relationships between government-firm collaboration, firm-firm collaboration, and green innovation. Results show that government-firm bipartite centrality has a positive impact on green innovation and a greater effect on green innovation than firm-firm centrality does. Our findings show that digitization decreases the positive effect of government-firm collaboration on green innovation. Our paper provides managerial guidelines for SMEs to conduct green innovation practically and effectively.
