Description
The contemporary literature has emphasized the importance of the interactions between government and citizens to improve the quality of life of citizens. However, most of these studies have assessed this role at the national level leaving out the crucial role of local governments. The main goal of this study is to compare the level of development of e-government services at the municipal level in Chile using an e-value index designed for this research. This research analyzed 190 municipality websites in Chile. An e-value index was calculated and a regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the level of e-government services provided and other municipal variables. Results indicate that the level of e-government services is distributed unevenly among municipalities in Chile and population size, household income and internet connectivity of a municipality are directly related to the level of e-government services development
