Description

This paper aims to characterize Brazilian Internet users with the purpose of understanding how Internet users differ in their digital skills levels. This research used microdata from the national-wide survey ICT Households 2015. Data analysis was based on multivariate techniques such as Binary Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis and Binary Logistic Regression. The findings of this research indicate that Brazilian Internet users can be classified in four digital skills groups: (i) instrumental; (ii) interactive; (iii) limited and (iv) broad digital skills. These results allow a more in-depth understanding of the digital divide phenomena in Brazil, thus contributing to inform digital inclusion policies.
