Description
This paper provides framing on the IS use construct, replaces the conflicting terminology used in the IS use literature. We identify and define three distinct stages of use: initial use, continued use, and novel use. This paper also develops a process model of use that describes when a user moves from one stage to the next and why system feature changes serve to reset the stage of use back to initial use. This new framework of use has value for IS researcher at the individual, group, and organization levels of analysis.
