Abstract
This paper builds a theoretical foundation of a first-person perspective systems analysis (1ppSA). First, the theoretical existence of 1ppSA is presupposed, and second, we presuppose that phenomenology is a basic theory of 1ppSA. With the two presuppositions we investigate whether it is possible to use Activity Theory (AT) as diagrammatic resources in order to build the foundation of 1ppSA. Although they are concerned with the study of consciousness, phenomenology and AT are not practical to use alone respectively. They are considered worth combining because they are complementary. Phenomenology provides a meta-methodology that helps us become conscious of the structures and conditions from which our conviction concerning a world is constituted. AT has diagrammatic resources for visualizing the structures and conditions. This research shows that the use of AT diagram along the attitude and methods of phenomenology can realize the theoretical foundation of 1ppSA.
