Abstract

Memorandums of understanding are essential for successful working relationships where sensitive information may be exposed. Timeliness and the information sharing of situational details are inhibitors when crisis occur and there is a high degree of uncertainty. Two sectors that experience information sharing complexities are the smaller non-profits and private sector and the focus of this research. This in-progress research introduces information sharing challenges encountered during the initial 30 days of the Haiti earthquake response efforts. We highlight instances that are relevant to cross-organizational and multinational team collaboration. We conclude with next steps towards a framework that aims to improve the information sharing challenges, especially when timely collaboration is essential.
