Abstract
Information retrieval (IR) systems are very complex in nature due to the complex interaction of document, query, and matching subsystems involved in the process. My work looks at how the various matching functions used in IR, to match document representations with queries, can be adapted using Genetic Algorithms (GAs) to yield better performance.
