Abstract

Enterprise Resource Planning systems have been heavily adopted in developed countries in the past decade and most studieson ERP adoption and selection focuses on these countries. There is limited or no knowledge on ERP system adoption indeveloping countries in general and African countries in particular. With the emerging trend of ERP adoption in developingcountries, how to select an adequate ERP system is a crucial question in the early phase of an ERP project. Developingcountries can actually adopt the available selection models but the suitability of the models should be first approved in thecontext of these countries. This study, therefore, intends to analyse the suitability of the existing selection models by takingcases in Ethiopia and will come up with a prototype of a suitable ERP system selection model for Ethiopia’s context.
