Systèmes d'Information et Management

Abstract

From the beginning, Decision Support Systems aim to help managers to make decision. But for 30 years, this objective has been challenged many times. In the 70 the problem was merely technical. From the 90 and despite of the development of the group-DSSs, the problem is of organizational nature. And although a lot has been make to improve such systems, most of the managerial decisions remain unreachable for them. More, as H. Simon (1997, p. 5) says, "util today, Information systems only have a "modest impact" on business decision making processus". This paper suggests some paths to follow in order to understand this amazing assertion, and to improve the DSS capacity to support these processes in complex situations.
