Systèmes d'Information et Management

Abstract

Too many information system projects are still uncontrolled. The previous researches have shown that a monolithic and standard methodology is not appropriate. Today, two principles seem established: a contingency approach of methodologies and a component-oriented view of methods. Nevertheless, the project manager is to be helped when taking methodological decisions. This paper presents the result of a research undertaken by a group of researchers and consultants. The article contains two main points. First, the proposal of a criteria-grid to help the project manager to stress the key points of his project before establishing a plan of action. Secondly, the result of the validation of this grid, based on a survey amongst 37 project managers.
