Abstract

This article proposes a new method called COnfrontation of REpresentations (CORE) that facilitates elaboration of a porfolio of IS projects. This method is an adjustment of the method called SODA, developed by Professor Eden. CORE is based on cognitive mapping that allows the communication of complex ideas among managers and the clarification of thought. The method was applied successfully in three organizations. At the end of the paper, we discuss the relevance of CORE, because even if it seems that the method is relevant and that cognitive mapping is an appropriated tool for IS planning, it is important to wonder about the nature of the consensus obtained in the organizations.
