Abstract

In this study, we present a taxonomy of 9 practices and 36 categories of activities that organisational actors undertake in order to create representations of their competitive environment. We analyse the frequency and the individual repartition of each category of activities. We show that most of them are not directly linked to the generation of representations but that they contribute to the creation of shared cognitive, behavioural and relational frames. Those frames regulate competitive intelligence activities and enhance the coherence of the resulting representation of the competitive environment.
