Systèmes d'Information et Management
Abstract
This research aims at measuring information systems panoptic power. Based on a lite¬rature review of past empirical research on the subject, it proposes a conceptual model that borrows a foucaldian perspective to explain information systems contribution to organi¬zational control. Our research model is tested based on a multi-organizations and multi IS longitudinal approach within the French franchise sector. Overall, the results support the use of information systems in a control strategy to promote less free-riding behaviour. They suggest IS potential as an organizational control device.
