Systèmes d'Information et Management
Abstract
Our paper studies the effect of mimetic behaviour in the adoption of the ERP by large and midsize French companies. We propose an original synthesis of various visions suggested by theories of the management on the origin of mimicry, practices likely to be copied and on imitation relevance. Firms in "uncertain situations" resulting from insufficient scanning can copy positions taken by others. Some modify their judgement taking into account the advices of firms having adopted an ERP. Others copy the dominant practices or the choices of firms appearing legitimate as leaders, successful or innovating firms.
