Abstract
This paper reports on a study of the 500 major UK companies and 50 financial service companies, which used interviews and self-completed questionnaires. The key feature of information system strategies are presented, together with an identification of the barriers to setting up and implementing a strategy which companies perceive. Finally, strategies for overcoming the major barriers to successful information system strategies are outlined.
