Are You Ready to Get Googlified? Ambivalence of Grass Root Attitudes Towards Managerial Ideals of Agile Work

Abstract

This qualitative study explores an organizational change towards an agile way of working, which is pursued through a change in the office software suite from Microsoft to Google. The study focuses especially in the ways in which management justifies the change and how employees make sense of the process. The results illuminate various challenges in pursuing agile transformation through fostering an environment that supports agile work, instead of implementing actual agile process models. The empirical material has been collected from a large organization operating in the field of chemical processing, and it comprises of 17 interviews and company documents related to the change.
