Description
Organization’s information security efforts are often threatened by employee non-compliance to security policy or negligence. Though technical and procedural controls for curtailing security violations and motivating secure behaviors have been explored in the literature, security violations persist. Given the significant influence individuals wield on the welfare of organizations’ security, we explore additional approaches to understanding the factors that form the individual’s feelings of information security psychological ownership and in turn, the stewardship of the organization’s security. A research model, hypotheses, and survey methodology are described.
