Abstract

Organizations naturally want to establish trust with their employees. Such trusting relationships are especially important when employees cannot simply be told what to do, as in increasingly the case in modern businesses. In the context of ERP systems, top management involvement and support has been consistently found to be a key factor leading to ERP system usage. Nevertheless, the impact of organizational trust on ERP system usage has not been well understood and investigated. The primary goal of this research is to frame organizational trust as a key predictor of ERP system usage. Further, we examine how employees’ perception of organizational trust impacts organizational mindfulness within the context of ERP systems. We then propose a conceptual model for studying the influence of the dimensions of organizational trust and organizational mindfulness on ERP system usage. We conclude the paper by providing some suggestions on future research directions.
