There is a growing interest in many cities around the world in incentivizing startups because they often stimulate the city’s economic growth. In order to better support these startups, it is crucial to understand their needs and the local environment in which they are located. To understand these aspects, we have conducted a mapping study to understand the tech startup ecosystem of the city of Belém, located in the Amazon Region in Brazil. These startups were mainly related to software development with products like software platforms and mobile apps. This mapping study was conducted using a qualitative research approach through interviews with local startups and organizations that support and influence them.
