Abstract

This research reports on an empirical study conducted to identify key factors that influence remote workers' videoconferencing acceptance. We used a modified version of the original technology acceptance model (TAM) to investigate the effects of individual and organizational factors—self-efficacy (SE), computer knowledge (CK), and organizational support (OS)—as antecedents of TAM. We used a quantitative cross-sectional study design and collected 694 valid responses to test eight hypotheses using structural equation modeling. The results suggest that OS, SE, and CK impact (at different magnitudes) the extent to which users accept videoconferencing in working remotely. Findings from this research have implications for understanding how employees approach videoconferencing technologies in hybrid or remote work environments. Organizations can use our findings to improve their human resources processes, financial planning, and overall corporate culture and image.
